The Unitarian Universalist Association’s Article II Study Commission has worked for over two years to holistically review the UUA’s bylaws Article II. Contained in Article II are the seven UU principles, which have not been substantially revised since 1985. The Commission has proposed sweeping changes to Article II, which would replace the seven principles with language centered in mission, values, covenant, and inspirations. We will discuss the history of Article II and the seven principles, the work of the Commission, and the proposed revisions which will be voted on at UUA’s General Assembly in June 2024.
