Looking for Rainbows

Each rainbow is unique based on the perspective it is viewed from. A covenant is a promise, often sealed with a symbol, tradition, or practice. The rituals can be powerfully indicative of a society’s and an individual’s relationship with faith. Click on the link for the text of Jayne Jacobs’ presentation.

Childcare and youth programming are available during the service, and refreshments and conversation follow. Everyone is welcome!

In Remembrance of Unitarian Minister The Rev. James Reeb

The Rev. James Reeb was killed on March 11, 1965, during the voting rights protests in Selma Alabama. Leah Reeb, granddaughter of Rev. James Reeb, will be our guest speaker for this very special service, sharing his history, shedding light on why he was so driven and what kept him involved, and offering her insights into what her grandfather would be doing and how he would reflect on what is happening in today’s world. Childcare and youth programming are available. Everyone is welcome!

Privatio Boni: The Question of Good and Evil

According to the principle of privatio boni (Latin), evil has no existence on its own, but is simply the absence of good. We live in a world of opposites, where anything can quicky be judged one way or another. Our thought processes are primarily scientific and often two-dimensional. This topic explores another perspective on logically defined opposites such as good and evil, light and darkness. Click on the service title for a link to the full text of Jayne Jacob’s presentation.

Continuum of Affirmation

During this service we celebrated our welcoming congregation and participation in the 2018 Casper Pride festival.  We invoked the seven rays of our being as we raised spiritual energy and affirmed the inherent worth and dignity of all people.  We prepared a new parade banner honoring our many faith traditions and offering statements of love, compassion and affirmation which was then carried in the pride parade later in the day. Care N’ Share Service: Celebrating Seton House

Join us in in learning about and celebrating the work of Seton House, our quarterly Care N Share program non-profit. Our UU Casper membership committee will co-lead this service along with guest Deanna Frey, executive director of Seton House. Seton House supports single-parent families in their journey to independence. It’s all about empowerment! “The move a family makes into their new apartment is the first step on the journey to a new life. While the apartment provides stability and foundation a one-on-one case management allows these families to then develop a clear and distinct path towards self-sufficiency.” Find out more at setonhousecasper.org.

This is a “Share the Plate” Sunday, where un-designated cash collected during the offering will be donated by UU Casper to Seton House, and participants are also welcome to make donations directly to Seton House by check. Also, through March we will be collecting donations of new or gently used household items to donate to Seton House. Some suggested items include cereal, cleaning products, mops, towels, twin-size sheets, and kitchenware and utensils.

Interview with a Soul

A soul is essentially composed of stories making each soul unique. Gaining insight into one’s soul story can help a person understand where they’ve been, where they are, and where they could potentially be.

Everyone is encouraged to bring a can of soup to donate to Food for Thought to help fill weekend food bags distributed to school children in Natrona County.

Helpful Hopes, Unhelpful Expectations

The inspiration for my presentation today on “Healthy Hopes, Unhealthy Expectations,” came from recent reflections upon my past and current life. I have often revisited difficult decisions I made during my youth and young adulthood, sometimes wishing I would have chosen differently. Although fortunately not … read more.
