In Remembrance of Unitarian Minister The Rev. James Reeb
The Rev. James Reeb was killed on March 11, 1965, during the voting rights protests in Selma Alabama. Leah Reeb, granddaughter of Rev. James Reeb, will be our guest speaker for this very special service, sharing his history, shedding light on why he was so driven and what kept him involved, and offering her insights into what her grandfather would be doing and how he would reflect on what is happening in today’s world. Annual Burning Bowl Service
Don Benson will lead the annual Burning Bowl service, a ritual to bid farewell to the old year, and welcome the new: reflecting on and releasing the areas of our lives that no longer serve our highest good: we look forward, creating goals that will advance our journey in the coming year. Special Saturday Earth-Centered Service: Winter Solstice Celebration, Inanna’s Seven Gates
Embark on an inward journey with Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth and Her sister Ereshkigal, Queen of Shadows, descending into the depths of our own psyche to shed the residue and trappings of our lives which no longer serve us. Embrace the shadow-self with unconditional love to reconcile our past through the giving and seeking of forgiveness and affirming the natural cycles of death and rebirth. Find within ourselves the water of life – love and compassion – and arise through its transformative magick.
UU Casper Religious Exploration Holiday Program
UU Casper’s young people will provide the focal point for this service that examines the Yule Season in ways old and new. Through song and storytelling, we’ll see a bit of how our pagan ancestors found spiritual meaning at this time of year. Learn about the Green Man and the battle between the Holly and the Oak, and sing a modern song with us that may tie it all together! Refreshments and conversation follow the service.
